Which class is right for me?

Where we’ve not been moving for a while or are desperate to get moving after surgeon sign off, it can be tricky to know where to start. At Build & Breathe we offer a variety of Pilates & Low-impact HIIT sessions to get you moving in an accessible and fun way that’s best suited to you.

What movement should I be doing?

We use the word ‘movement’ for a reason – it doesn’t have to be a sprint to count! Movement could be anything from a gentle walk in nature to a sweaty cardio class, it all boils down to the same benefits. Here are our favourite ways to get strong:

Pilates

Helps with:

  • Pain management
  • Building a strong core
  • Regaining confidence after scoliosis surgery

Best for you if:

  • You’re frustrated with current yoga/pilates classes asking you to bend
  • You’re struggling with connecting to your body after scoliosis diagnosis or spinal surgery
  • You haven’t used your core in yonks and would like to do so in a safe way.

We love the strengthening and mobilising benefits of Pilates, as well as the headspace it provides by giving peaceful time throughout the week.
Strong, slow movements work to build specific muscles to improve daily function through your body. Traditionally, Pilates is very twisty and bendy, however we teach a crunch-free adaptation that will leave you feeling powerful and strong.

Low-Impact HIIT

Helps with:

  • Improving lung capacity
  • Reducing stress
  • Sleeping better
  • Cardio health

Best for you if:

  • You like traditional HIIT classes but want to ensure you aren’t leaving with back pain
  • You want to increase your heart rate and get a little sweaty!
  • You’re hoping to increase your general fitness

We love low-impact cardio as a way to improve lung capacity and have a bit of a giggle with some fun music!
Traditional HIIT movements have been translated into safer versions for our spines, leaving out any jumping and certainly avoiding the devil – burpees!
Our classes are guaranteed to get a sweat on, but without the usual back pain that ensues after.

Finding an instructor to trust

It is SO important that you find an instructor you trust, of course we’re a little biased! Our lovely instructors Em and Hope both live with a fusion and scoliosis respectively and offer multiple progressions in each session to ensure you can find a level that’s suitable for you. No more frustration in class!

We’d love to have you in for a free trial session to see how you get on with Pilates and HIIT, drop us a note at info@buildbreathe.co.uk to join in, or contact us with the form below.
